Sam Bendix is a multimedia artist, graphic designer, and creative technologist who co-creates narratives, visual systems, and interactive experiences for immersive media. Their practice spans graphic design, immersive and real-time media, and creative development, integrating speculative design, worldbuilding, and multispecies design into research-driven prototyping for new methodologies and experiential outcomes.

They work as a creative technologist at Edgeworks, the full-service design, research, and production bureau housed within the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts. In this role, Bendix contributes across the design process—from graphic design and visual communication to immersive media development—supporting projects that bridge research, storytelling, and emerging technologies.

Having grown up on a farm and trained as a graphic designer, Bendix is particularly interested in visually communicating the interconnections between food, water, and energy systems, with the goal of fostering more equitable and sustainable future food networks. They also maintain a strong interest in experimental approaches to data visualization, exploring how data can be communicated through artistic, spatial, and multisensory forms.

Bendix is actively engaged in education at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, where they have co-instructed courses in real-time 3D game engines for performance using the OptiTrack motion capture system, as well as biodesign through the Biodesign Challenge.

Bendix received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
